gremlinprince 04-29-2004, 11:30 AM I have multiple website and am wanting to add the instant messenger service as soon as possible, I have some questions though.
1. I want to use lunarpages for my hosting, are the servers totally compatible www.lunarpages.com
2. What is the bandwidth needed for say a thousand users, I mean is alot of bandwidth used up for alot of people using this?
3. For someone to install it for me I take it I send them my modified version and they then install it?
4. Can I disable the aol and msn features?

1. I have no idea, I'm not familiar with them. You need server side java and telnet to run the server
2. The bandwidth needed is equal to the text that users send across the network. If a user sends "hello, what's up" to another user then that bandwidth would be transfered for that IM. Aside from the text they send there is very little overhead. How much bandwidth depends on how chatty the users are.
3. You will need to install the java server on the windows or linux server side
4. you can disable both msn and aol in the client creator
Please try the demo on download.com before buying.

On the lunarpages website is says they support JSP is that what you mean?
It states...
You can also add JSP and Servlet support to your domain name or sub domain for only $2 per month.
and
J2SETM 1.4.1 is installed.
Is this correct
Regards
No, JSP is not the same thing.
You need to know if the server has Java installed on it.
gremlinprince 04-29-2004, 02:52 PM ok, how much is the average cost of a server to allow this please?
Regards
We have just launched our own hosting program today, you will be able to run the WWIM on our servers:
http://www.worldwidecreations.com/hosting
gremlinprince 04-29-2004, 11:27 PM I have had a look at the hosting part of the site and I would like to have a look at other hosts that are compatible with the wwim.
I have purchased the product now and just need a home for it.
Please can people make some recomendations here
Regards
The only recommendation on a host that you are going to get here is ours.
gremlinprince 04-30-2004, 10:07 AM OK fair enough,
I want to sign up with yourselves for the hosting but the only way for payment seems to be through PayPal.
I havent got time to run about to my bank sorting out an account with them, is there a way of just paying via credit card simply?
Also I have been sent and continue to recieve the creator software via email, so far I have 7 copies of it? Is this normal, if not I hope I dont get charged for all these copies that I am receiving.
Regards
Ok, I am not sure why you would need bank account information to make a payment unless you are not using a credit card?
Our records show that you have only been sent one copy of the WWIM.
gremlinprince 04-30-2004, 11:52 AM paypal says for credit card payments with them because of the cost i need to wait for a code to be shown on my next credit card bill and enter it in their system before i can pay that ammount of money.
Any way to get around this?
Regards
Can you view your credit card statement online?
gremlinprince 04-30-2004, 12:20 PM I dont have that set up no, it would take a while to set up also :(
gremlinprince 04-30-2004, 01:51 PM Also I have compiled it but what do i put on the server when the server is set up?
Sorry totally lost as to how this is gonna work
I think I will need to pay for install too.. but with this paypal carry on its going to take forever :(
The emails keep coming with the software, I am on dial up and its taking half an hr to get the emails :(
Regards
All of the install directions are in the Readme file.
Just to let you know, you can now pay without creating a Paypal account. Just fill out the form and click continue, it will take you to the Paypal page and click the button that says Continue Checkout.

Hi Jafo,
I'm running my own web server with my domain names.
(Red Hat Enterprise 3 with apache)
I want to know which Java is supporting to your messenger.
where can I find it? please give that download url..
If it's working fine I will buy your messenger.
regards
redhatlover
Download the binary for Java at java.sun.com.
You want the JRE, which you can find here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
You DO NOT want the SDK.
Download the bin to your server, and execute it from the command line, it will install painlessly.
