I am not a Mac user, but my partner and co-editor is, and he is in charge of posting real estate ads to our 'zine. Unfortunately, anything he posts does not show up. If I post the same thing from my PC, it shows up. I tried posting from my girlfriend's Mac, and voila!, nothing showed up. The two Macs are 2,000 miles apart, so it's not a locality issue. Most likely the odd Mac keyboard/ASCII mapping.

Instead of getting a "success" message after hitting "Submit" when you use a Mac to post, you see the ad itself, properly formatted--but it never shows up on the browse page nor is it in the ads directory on the server.

So what's the problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks.

Are you sure you are hitting the submit button and not the preview button?

Yes, I am sure. I asked that same question of my co-editor, and then tried hitting the "Preview" button to see whether that might be confusing him. No: "Preview" results in a popup window, "Submit" does not.

I then went through the same procedure twice in my office, once on a PC and once on a Mac. Worked on the PC, did not work on the Mac. The Mac, instead of returning the "success" page, showed the listing formatted properly, with no buttons on the page but all the other proper formatting, but subsequently the listing did not show up.

My co-editor has only a Mac to to work with, and since the real estate section is his baby, the program is presently useless to us.

How can we fix this?

Thanks.

I am using the same script to set up a site for a client, and ran into a similar problem - I could not have the ad actually go through - preview worked properly but submit did not. I tried playing with the jscript some, but I think actually this might be one of Safari's javascript bugs.

I tried with the newest version of Mozilla Firefox, and it worked OK. If you havent already given up you might want to give that a try.

Maybe. I was using Mozilla on the Mac I tested on, and my co-editor probably used Safari or Internet Exploder. I will recommond that he download Foxfire and hope that that works. Many thanks!
